Even NYPD officers don't like Mayor de Blasio

I've said this before that New Yorkers will regret electing Bill de Blasio as their mayor in the days to come after his victory over Joe Lhota back in 2013. It's just starting to show up publicly nowadays as this fellow NYPD officer spills his dislike over de Blasio while giving out ticket to drivers. It's not just that this is just one instance, over the last few years, my hometown, Jamaica, NY, has also become prone to violence on the streets more so than Mayor Bloomberg's period. Just last week, a neighbour of ours, a fellow taxi driver who came home to give the taxi to the next shift's driver sometime at early dawn, was held at gunpoint & was hit on his head by the looter who took about $150 from his pocket. Such incidents have never happened in our area before. We have been living in that house since 2009 & those neighbours of ours since 2007. Funny thing is those folks also voted for a Democratic nominee for mayor back in 2013. Now they are regretting their choice. What do you think? Was electing de Blasio a good choice for NYC? Should NYC elect a Republican candidate for mayor as they did with Rudy Giuliani & Mike Bloomberg? What does the endorsement of such character like de Blasio for Hillary Clinton show, in the context of endorsement politics in election process?

A Corrupt City Hall in NYC

Swami Vivekananda once said "O Lord, the different paths which people take through different tendencies, various though they appear, crooked or straight, all lead to Thee." That's the same kind of pathways that surfaces the scandalous NYC. It all the corruptions in the city over the last few years, all lead to Mayor de Blasio. From NYPD, medallion kings to teacher's union or construction projects - all have paid large sums of money to get their best deals from the government. Interestingly, Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton also avoided facing de Blasio at a Iowa event earlier this year. Find out more from this NYPost article.

Empire State Building in Ma Kali's colors

Goddess Kali is regarded as the Goddess of death but the death of an ego. Of all the forms of Devi, she is considered to be the most compassionate one because she provides moksha or liberation to her children. And now, people in New York would know about Her. Yeah, you read that right.

Happy Independence Day, India!

Saffron, White & Green. Saffron for sacrifice, White for purity & Green for prosperity. And now - also for the Greenbuck as India adorns the Empire State Building. A testament to the (near) future Superpower. Poet's dream of "বলো বলো বলো সবে, শত বীণা বেনু রবে, ভারত আবার যত গো সভায় শ্রেষ্ঠ আসন লবে" - perhaps not looking that distant anymore. From Google to Microsoft, from PepsiCo to MasterCard, the future writing seems to be on the wall.

Hindus of NYC...let's leave the city

Yes, it's done. The mayor, Bill de Blasio, has openly proved discrimination for part of his constituents with the latest official holiday on lunar new year. Previously, back in March, he had already passed legislation to give two days off for the holy days of Eid for Muslims. As a Hindu born in a discriminated Bangladesh as a minority, coming to the US gave a new hope with equal opportunity and rights. With the naturalized citizenship process, that hope became more dense that no matter what religion, race, gender or nationality you may have, rights and opportunities are distributed evenly in this "land of the free".
